Seven1 Media's Favorite FREE Digital Marketing Tools
Through our pursuit of knowledge when it comes to digital marketing, we have found many tools that we use regularly. These tools, if used correctly, can be a major asset to any company and can make life much easier. And to make it even more of a no-brainer, IT’S FREE! Without further ado, let’s get to it.
#1 on our list without question is Canva.com. This free site allows anybody to do basic graphic design. Using Canva I have created numerous logos, social media posts, flyers, brochures, business cards, cover photos, and many more. It is extremely helpful when in need of a quick design for just about anything. I have used it for school, a past internship, and now in my own business. It is ridiculously easy to use and is very user friendly. I would consider this to be the best available graphic design software for beginners.
In the second spot on our list we have Google page speed insights. This website allows anybody to gain insight into the speed of any websites as well as any problems that Google sees with it. The report will show what things on the website take too long to load as well as well as what can be done to fix it. I use this tool frequently to ensure that my website is running smoothly and to find anything that I am able to do to make it run more smoothly.
Facebook is a fantastic platform to advertise on as it has very specific targeting abilities and is widely used by the majority of Americans. However, an underused facet of Facebook’s many abilities is the Facebook Pixel. The Pixel can be easily embedded into the code of any website and it essentially tracks the viewers of that site. It then essentially acts as a cookie and collects the information of what pages the user visited on the website and how far it went in the sales funnel. This information is then sent to the owner of the pixel when the user logs into Facebook. The owner of the pixel would then be able to target specific groups of people based on their use of the owner’s website. This offers businesses a huge opportunity to target customers who have already expressed interest in them. I feel that this tool is extremely beneficial and is a huge missed opportunity for many businesses.
When using graphic design for posting on Facebook this often means that there will be words contained within the pictures. This is fine, but Facebook penalized pictures with too many words by lowering their exposure and increasing the cost of placing ads. This problem may seem like the cause of a guessing game, but Facebook created a tool to measure the ratio of text to image within a potential post. This tool can be found
here. I used this tool many times during my internship and it takes all of the guesswork out of the problem of Facebooks text:image ratio algorithms. Simply upload a picture and the page will give a rating based on Facebook’s algorithms. A tool made by Facebook for Facebook, text overlay is an extremely useful tool for any business looking to use graphic design for Facebook posts.
If you would like to begin using these tools but are unsure of how to do so, I will delve deeper into tutorials in later posts.
